Entries for the 2022 Redding Lighted Christmas Parade

are currently closed. Entries for 2023 will open mid October.

Packets will be e-mailed out to all participants the week of the event. Please contact the committee if you have any questions.

ENTRY RULES

As you may know, there is only one Santa, so we do not allow look-alikes on any of the floats. Santa will wrap up the parade in his lighted sleigh.

All floats need to be lighted. Judges will choose the winners for each category based on how well they represent the parade theme.

RULE4.png

For safety reasons, no items of any kind are to be thrown or handed out to the crowd from anyone in any entry (i.e. candy, balloons, cans, etc.)

In support of the American Lung Association, the Parade is a Smoke-Free event. Please support this cause by encouraging your friends and family to refrain from smoking/e-smoking during the event.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Use of Theme

How well does the entry embody this years theme? Is it the same design as previous years, or was the entry custom built to embody this years theme?

Use of Lighting

How well and cohesive is the entry lit? Not just how many lights, but do the lights make senses and work together? I.e. not just covering a float in lots of lights, but outlining things and having a cohesive color scheme.

Use of Showmanship

How much flair or dramatic effect does the entry have? I.e is the band just marching, or is there “pop” in their step? Are people just waving from the float, or are they acting/dancing?

Creativity

How original is the use of parts/lights, or overall theme? I.e. a Martian themed Christmas, or just a tree.

Overall Appearance

Does the entry make sense as a whole? Or does it look like a bunch of random ideas crammed together? I.e. a Hawaiian Christmas scene combined with the North Pole.

Crowd Pleaser

How much does the crowd like the entry? Is the crowd simply smiling, or up on their feet dancing and waving?

Difficulty / Workmanship

How difficult are the dance moves/songs/horse maneuvers?

How much work went into the float/vehicle? Hay bales on a trailer or custom decorations?
